The start of the video shows the bands record label going towards the screen in the style of a feature film. The scene shows the lead singer stepping out of a limo dressed as though attending a film premiere with the band member looking round and camera flashes can be seen. This is trying to show that the band member is famous and that people have been awaiting his arrival. This start is slightly unusual for the band because it shows a more formal side.
The next screen switches back to the style seen on the first screen with the words “All Time Low in Poppin” which is the bands single. During this people can be heard chanting the band’s name over and over before finally cutting in to the band member walking across the carpet in a style which shows he knows he’s famous.
Again this picture while not clear from the youtube quality shows flashes and the style of clothing which already gives the watcher a basic impression.
Finally in the next scene the music cuts in to the letters “ATL” and shows a camera pulling closer towards the large letters. And quickly goes to the band playing their instruments and miming to the lyrics in synch with the song. The band members are dressed in their normal clothes and are wearing designs from their sponsor “Glamour Kills” and they have their hair styled in the form that instantly connotes that they are a band that is with the current scene of Pop-Punk style music. With the band wearing the clothing line which even has one of members Jack owning a part of it, this gives an instant form of advertisement.
The scene switches from the band playing to the lead singer walking through a crowd of women. This quickly changes the thought from the start which gave off a film feature impression. The scenes show more of a party. The lyrics quickly come in to play with the style of the party video. Close up shots of the lead singer playing then changing fast to him walking through the crowd of women and interacting with other band members which are all dressed in a similar style. It comes apparent that the video is more in a comedy style from the start of the video.
Close up shot to catch the expression on the singers face. (Note not the best picture because of youtube quality
An interesting note shows that the lead singer is not miming the lyrics when he’s walking through the party only when he’s playing on the sort of stage. This gave me the impression that the band is not playing at the same time which sometimes other videos do and that they are like completely different times. The band has always been in a style of partying, drinking and having loads of women and this video portrays this very well and gives the audience segments of the stereotypes in the video. These can easy appeal to both the male and female target audience.
The lighting in this video is bright and gives the style of Pop-punk music which is a colorful scene which is kind of in the style of the clothing reflecting of it.
Most of the next scene of the video shows the camera underneath the camera the lead singer Alex walking through the crowd and still interacting with other members who are all in different sections of the party. One of them even being a in tub with a group of people behind him showing that the party is all surrounding them. The next scene switches to the guitarist Jack who is surrounded by women who are all interacting with him. This gives a further audience impression that the band are the hightlight of the party.
Showing the different style of key lighting mainly on the two band members. This shows them interacting with each other as they pass through the party. The camera is following Alex from the front as he passes through
The camera keeps changing from the band playing to them at the party but now the lead singer is now miming the lyrics of the song in both sections. The next scene switches to the band in sport like gear doing a dance while people are dancing around them. The people that are around them aren’t really taking notice of the band who are dancing.
Finally in the next scene Jack flirts with a woman and gets slapped across the face. The scene now shows the band that they are not just famous celebrities as the video was trying to make out to be and are in fact a famous band that likes to have fun rather than be stuck up as a lot of celebrities are portrayed these days. The band at the end is shown getting thrown out of the club. This video style fits the band as stereotypical Pop-Punk band as it was aiming to be from the start.
